Queen's Park Arena is a 3,500 seat arena that is located in the beautiful, historic Queen's Park. The arena plays hosts to numerous events from local community events to national championships. No event is too large or small.

HISTORY OF QUEEN'S PARK ARENA

The historical Queen's Park Arena building was constructed and officially opened on September 19, 1930 for sporting activities such as badminton, basketball and even horse shows.

In 1938 the building was enlarged to add more seating, and ice machinery was added to create our present day arena.

OTHER RENOVATIONS:

1949 - an extension was added to the north end of the arena

1967 -new ice machinery was added and a concrete floor poured over the original sand based floor.

1969 - Infrared heating for the comfort of spectators was installed.

1972 - A new 4 sided score clock and new light over the floor surface were installed.

1973 - Strengthening of the roof beams was done to allow for the removal of many upright supports that were a major interference for spectator viewing.

1974 - Plexiglass was installed to replaced the mesh fencing around the playing surface of the rink. New fibreglass seating was installed in the seating area.

1975 - A new look was given to the arena by extensive renovations to the front lobby. Renovated concessions and washrooms, new offices and ticket booths.

1993 - Fire alarm system was installed throughout the facility as well as a generator for emergency lighting.

2000 - The west side dressing rooms were completely renovated.

2001 - The east side dressing rooms were completely renovated.

WINTER SEASON
Ice is installed in the Queen's Park Arena from early September until early April. During this time period the facility plays host to the New Westminster Minor Hockey Association and the Vancouver Griffins Women's hockey team.

Get your friends together for a game of hockey or bring your family and friends and book a time for a Christmas skate. Please note that Queen's Park Arena does not have skate rentals available.

Fees & Charges
Please note that our facility rental fees are applicable for the term of September 1 to
August 31 (of the current year). Due to inflation, Parks and Recreation fees may be
subject to increases on September 1st annually. As such, bookings fees after
September 1st may be higher that the fees listed.

Casual Hockey
Need some extra skating time to work on your stick handling or that famous slap shot. Come on out to this self-directed program for a casual game of hockey. The session is a great workout and helps keep the skills sharp and the body tuned! Staff do not supervise this session. Players are on their own to organize and play their own games. Each session is limited to 20 players and two goalies.

SUMMER SEASON
During the spring and summer months the Queen's Park Arena is filled with the sounds of lacrosse. New Westminster is the home of the famous New Westminster Salmonbellies. We have all levels of teams playing right from the minor teams to the New Westminster Sr. A Salmonbellies of the Western Lacrosse Association.

The arena is available for rent for various other activities from indoor soccer to community functions and events. In late April the facility is the host facility to an annual antique bottle and collectable show hosted by a local community group.
