Irving House
Located at 302 Royal Avenue, Irving House is an 1865 colonial period house still on its original site and is one of the oldest surviving buildings in the Lower Mainland. The house was built for Captain William Irving, a well known riverboat captain. With 12 foot high ceilings and 14 rooms, it was the grandest house in the city when the City of New Westminster was the Capital of the Colony of British Columbia. The house is furnished with period furniture and costume tour guides will take visitors through the house and explain its fascinating history. The bullet hole in a doorway is just one of the fascinating stories about the house.
